This feast day is relatively new, only recently starting in the 1950s however the title and the celebration of Mary, Queen of Heaven and of our Lord is rooted in scripture. We see this specifically at the Visitation when Elizabeth exclaims, “The mother of my Lord” when Mary arrives. We also see allusions to Mary’s queenship when we pray the “Hail, Mary Full of Grace” in the Rosary. That said, Catholics have been celebrating and rejoicing in Mary's queenship throughout history.
If you haven’t noticed by now, we have a deep love and devotion for Mary, our Blessed Mother. Take a look at all things Mary products if you need more convincing! Mary is our mother, our friend, our inspiration and our hope for heaven. So to have a celebration simply dedicated to Mary’s queenship is right up our alley.
Here is how you can celebrate:
- Have a Mary statue from participating in our Mary Garden challenge? Bring her some flowers or place a small crown on her head. Asters, traditionally a late summer and fall flower would be fitting as they are also called “Mary’s birthday flower.”
- Wear a Mary tee! Consider our bestseller, "Life, Sweetness, and Hope". You can't go wrong honoring our mother and donning this soft, cute, and comfy shirt.
- Pray a Rosary. Follow along with us.
- Complete a 33 Day Marian Consecration, ending today on this feast day, to dedicate your life and your works to her.
