The Transfiguration: What it is and how to celebrate it

The Transfiguration is when Jesus takes Peter, James and John to the top of Mt. Tabor to pray. While there, Jesus’ appearance changed to bright, brilliant white and He was joined by Moses and Elijah. The three disciples heard God say, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.” The disciples were in awe and Peter excitedly asked if he needed to make a tent for Moses and Elijah to stay with them. From this story, we can see God revealing to the disciples that Jesus is, in fact, the Son of God, and that we all have been commanded to listen to him.

Here is how you and your family can celebrate:

‌1. Read the story of the Transfiguration from a children’s bible

2. Pray the Luminous mysteries of the Rosary. Follow along with The Little Rose Shop.

3. Make a supper of all white foods, or add a white dessert to make the day extra special.

4. Download and print our free coloring page " For God so loved the world that he gave His only Begotten Son."
