Behind the Design: Inspiration Behind Be Still Little Snowdrop Fabric Collection

Out of loss, grief, and pain came the inspiration for this beautiful fabric collection called, “Be Still, Little Snowdrop”. This winter I suffered my 4th miscarriage. It was and is a sad event but the creation of this collection brought healing and comfort.

Snowdrops, scattered throughout the pieces, are inspired by the beautiful words of consolation from a poem title “Little Snowdrop”.

It reads:
The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn’t bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.
The little one we longed for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
For every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.

The second piece to this collection is from scripture, “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10. After each miscarriage, I am drawn to this particular passage. It is a gentle reminder to myself that I need to “be still” and let the Lord comfort me in my grief. The verse also is featured on this lullaby I have found myself listening to.

My prayer for this collection is that though created after deep suffering, the pieces reflect moments of peace and hope. I cannot wait to see your creations with this collection and I do hope you will share them with me! To me, this collection is a perfect match for Easter because it shows the beauty form suffering- which is the true story of Easter. Enjoy!
