Why we fast from meat on Fridays during Lent and tools to help you!
The Catholic Church, in her beauty and wisdom, asks that Catholics participate in fasting, prayer, and almsgiving during Lent. These are all spiritual exercises help us to grow closer to God and open our hearts to receive his gifts.
Fasting in particular, is a reminder of just how fragile and how many things are more important than food. Fasting from food helps us to let go of our attachments to earthly things, encouraging us to turn towards Heaven.
We are called as Catholics to abstain from easting meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent. Many opt to continue the meatless Fridays fast outside of the Lenten season.
Here at The Little Rose Shop, we understand how the busyness of life, the slight change in your Friday plans, and let’s face it, picky eaters, can really make meatless Friday a challenge. Don’t worry, we have you covered! We created this easy, handy, and FREE guide to meatless Fridays, sourced from families just like yours. This guide is easy to use with recipes, links and yummy photo inspiration to help you and your family willingly and joyfully participate in Meatless Fridays.
