Maybe you've see the latest fabric collection release: "Regina Caeli" inspired by, you guessed it, the Regina Caeli. I don't leave much room for question do I?
I honestly had never heard of the Regina Caeli until I started thinking about making some Easter designs. As I was perusing inspiration, I came across this song (it's called an antiphon).
I loved it because it's a song rejoicing to Mary that Jesus did indeed rise from the dead. Below you'll see the full Regina Caeli antiphon in Latin and what it translates to:
Regina caeli
Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia;
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia,
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia:
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.
Queen of Heaven
Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia.
The Son you merited to bear, alleluia,
Has risen as he said, alleluia.
Pray to God for us, alleluia
Because this antiphon is addressed to Mary, the Queen of Heaven, I knew the design had to bring some Marian blues and the Auspice (symbol the means "under the protection of Mary").
I kept listening to the chant as I created this collection and it might be one of my favorites to date. It's the perfect blend of Easter and Marian colors.
I just think it would gorgeous as an Easter table setting mixed and matched don't you? (Pssst: Spoonflower sells this design on home/dining products!)
