How to celebrate Sts. Joachim and Anne's Feast Day

July 26th is the feast day of Sts. Joachim and Anne. While not mentioned in the Bible, Catholic tradition believes that Saints Joachim and Anne were the mother and father of the Blessed Virgin Mary, making them the grandparents of Jesus.

They prayed fervently for a child and were a devote Jewish family. God gifted them Mary, conceived without sin, as celebrated on the feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th.

They are the patron saints of grandparents, couples without children, women in labor and women unable to conceive. This amazing and holy familial relationship further sanctifies the beauty and goodness of family life and extended family.

We love grandparents at The Little Rose Shop and even have these members of our families helping to run the shop. Grandparents are an absolute gift.

Here is how we can celebrate this beautiful feast day for grandparents.

  1. Call or send your grandparents a spiritual bouquet seed paper cards in the mail.
  2. If your family lives close, gather together for a fun family day out or an activity that every one enjoys.
  3. If your grandma is the crafty type, check out our DIY cut and sew St.  Anne saint squishy dolls to work on together.
  4. If your grandparents are no longer living, pray a Divine Mercy chaplet along with us for the repose of their beautiful soul.
