Reflections on Mother Teresa

Here at The Little Rose Shop, the lives and stories of the Saints aren’t just a nice idea or something to strive for. They give us true, day-to-day inspiration of how we can live our lives. ‌

I just love Mother Teresa. I love everything that she represents and how she aligns with the mission of The Little Rose Shop. I love her concept of not having to do these big and extravagant things to become a Saint. It is not a huge and overwhelming task to be a Saint, but rather, to do small things with great love. ‌

People didn't know much about her until the end of her life. Daily, she made small sacrifices and died to herself. She also suffered from spiritual desolation and struggles, which I think this is important to know. Some of the older Saints who we don’t know quite as much about may seem like these awesome and larger than life figures, like St. Joan of Arc leading a group of troops into battle. The modern Saints, such as Mother Teresa, provide us with a peek into their lives. They might be intimidating to some of us who are living in the domestic church, doing the small things that life requires of us.

But we know, with the help of Saints like Mother Teresa, that these small deeds of dishes, folding laundry, or driving the school and sports shuffle, can be a part of our salvation story, as we use the deeds for great love. ‌
