Keeping it Real: What’s a Highlight and what is Real

Keeping it Real: What’s a Highlight and what is Real

It is so darn easy to get stuck in the scroll, thinking, "Wow, this person has everything together!" Truth is, they don’t. What we see, what we fill ourselves with on our devices, phones, and photos are often just the highlights.

Real vs. reel: give yourself some space away from screen time, fill your hearts and minds with what is REAL.

Quick tips to do this:

Less screen time, more prayer time. Join us in prayer time. Set your watch or timer for 20 min. Turn on our beautiful prayer ambiance playlist and let your heart be turned to the Lord.

Start your morning in His Word. Grab your Bible and favorite pen and spend time in the Word. Use our super handy Bible Planner Pouch to keep your prayer essentials close at hand.

Remind yourself of who you serve. You are the child of the King of Kings! What a gift. Remind yourself daily of this gift with one of our faith inspired tees or cozy minky blankets. The Words of Affirmation Blanket is a great place to start.

Words like “beloved, worthy, beautiful, valuable” are physical reminders of the infinite way that God loves us.

Use an inspirational phone background. Seems silly right? But we open our phones so many times every day, we might as well be inspired when we do. Try our "Live Holy the Present Moment" phone background for FREE, and you might just find you needed this reminder too.

Begin and end in Him. This simple practice of starting and ending the day with the Lord sets the stage for Catholic living throughout the day. While life may be chaotic, demands seemingly endless, the love of the Lord and starting our day in prayer and thanksgiving can be an easy way to ground ourselves each and everyday.

These simple tips are a basis for reminding ourselves of what is true, good, and holy. While we may be inundated with images and videos of other’s highlights, we can remind ourselves and keep ourselves in reality. And the reality is, Jesus loves you! And your family, and your work and sacrifices. And His ultimate sacrifice is our reality. May God bless you abundantly!
