Frequently Asked Questions
What are the liturgical colors, and when is each one used?
Purple marks the waiting seasons of Advent and Lent. White and gold belong to Christmas and Easter, and green covers Ordinary Time. This set gives you purple, gold and green, so your table can follow the Church year. Rose and red appear on a few specific Sundays and feasts, and this set does not include them.
Can I use this set as an Advent table runner?
Yes. Lay the purple runner on the first Sunday of Advent, then switch to gold on Christmas Day and keep it out through the Christmas season. The same purple comes back for Lent.
What are the table runners made of, and how big are they?
Each runner measures 72 x 14 inches and is made of 10% linen, 15% viscose and 75% polyester. They are machine washable on cold, tumble dry low, and roll up for storage between seasons.
What is the symbol in the pattern?
Look closely and you will find the Chi Rho, one of the earliest symbols of Christ. It combines X and P, the first two Greek letters of Christ, as a quiet reminder of who is at the center of every season at your table.
Are table runners a good way to start liturgical living at home?
For many families the table is the easiest place to begin, because everyone gathers there every day. Changing one runner takes a minute, and children notice right away when the color changes and ask why.
